The guest card in the Schmallenberger Sauerland and the holiday region Eslohe will be digital

Less paper and more service thanks to digitalisation

Schmallenberg. The Schmallenberger Sauerland Card offers guests in the Schmallenberger Sauerland and the holiday region Eslohe an important added value to their holiday. It allows you to visit many museums and the public transport system free of charge, to take advantage of leisure activities or the hiking bus at reduced rates and much more. Since the beginning of the week, this service has been significantly improved once again. The hosts of the region can now send their guests a digital registration form by e-mail before their arrival. On site, the guest card in the form of a QR code on the mobile phone is then very quickly and easily at hand, in order to avoid long waiting times at the cash desk or when boarding the bus, and to avoid having to carry the paper registration form with you at all times. Thorsten Schulte from Schmallenberg's Sauerland Tourismus GmbH explains: "Data security was naturally an important aspect of this project, which we wanted to take into account in every respect. Our partner, AVS GmbH from Bayreuth, who has been in charge of our registration system for a long time, provided us with a secure procedure that protects the guests' data in an optimal way" The introduction of the digital guest card was a further logical step with regard to the quality optimisation of the holiday region, which had been in preparation for several months. Hubertus Schmidt, Managing Director, explains: "After the difficult last few weeks, there is now a great chance that guests will prefer to spend their holidays on their own doorstep. With the outstanding quality of our hosts, but also the tourist infrastructure as a whole, we can certainly attract interesting new guest target groups to our region"

Restart after the lockdown

Just now, when tourism in the region is picking up speed again and the "big holidays" are just around the corner, the Schmallenberger Sauerland Card is being used again with pleasure. The hiking bus now runs from Wednesday to Saturday according to the usual timetable, the museums and the open-air swimming pool are open again, and a visit to the leisure destinations is possible for holders of the guest card at an unbeatably low admission price. These include, for example, boat trips on the Sauerland lakes, the THIKOS Kinderland or the current special exhibition in the Sauerland Museum in Arnsberg. Despite all the relaxation, however, the following still applies: "Guests should inform themselves well before the day trip, because sometimes tickets have to be ordered online or maximum visitor numbers apply," explains Thorsten Schulte. "We have put together extensive information on this on our website and our team is also available to the guests from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on weekends for any questions they may have"
