Schmallenberg. The platform "marathon4you" asked users for their opinion on the quality of the marathon events in Germany, Austria and Switzerland for the 14th time. Over 200 events were available to choose from and were rated by a total of 15,226 runners from 19 nations. The two domestic running events, the Rothaarsteig Marathon in Fleckenberg, as well as the Bödefelder Hollenmarsch, were able to place themselves extremely well in view of this overwhelming selection, considering the different numbers of participants compared to the large city runs.
Of all the landscape runs, mountain and city marathons, the Rothaarsteig Marathon achieved the 36th place out of 100 in Germany and even the ninth place in NRW. The Bödefelder Hollenmarsch was placed 22nd in NRW. Both running events are organised and held with a high level of voluntary commitment. From the registration, construction, moderation, evaluation, supervision of the food stalls, course signage and award ceremony, to the collection of hundreds of drinking cups and much more, there is an incredible amount of work in every single running event. This year, both running events are once again firmly scheduled, the Rothaarsteig Marathon on 19 October 2019 and the Bödefelder Hollenmarsch on 24 and 25 May 2019. Both organisers have already opened their online registration.
Marathon of the year 2018
The Rennsteiglauf received the most votes for the fifth time in a row. It can call itself Marathon of the Year 2018. The Frankfurt Marathon took second place ahead of the Jungfrau Marathon, which is also the most popular marathon in Switzerland this year.
