German Hiking Day 2019

The team for the German Hiking Day 2019 is formed - project manager introduced.

Schmallenberg/Winterberg Kathrin Schneider has been recruited as a real specialist for the project management position, which was vacant until the end of the project. Since 1 March 2017, the team for the 119th German Hiking Day is thus complete.

From 3 - 8 July 2019, the Sauerland Mountain Club and the host cities of Schmallenberg and Winterberg are expecting more than 20,000 hiking enthusiasts to attend Germany's largest hiking event of the year. Until then there is a lot to coordinate, prepare and organize, and an important prerequisite for the planned hiking festival of the highest order are clever minds and hands-on experience. With the project management, Ms Schneider will be responsible for the direction, control and coordination of the preparations and the handling of the German Hiking Day 2019. "With a degree in geography and tourism and several years of professional experience, Ms Schneider brings with her everything that is necessary to make the event a success", say the managing directors of Wandertags gGmbH Michael Beckmann, Winterberg, Hubertus Schmidt, Schmallenberg and Christian Schmidt, SGV.

They receive competent support from their team - Susanne Kleinsorge (Ferienwelt Winterberg), Anna Rösch (SGV) and Irmgard Kotthoff (City of Schmallenberg) - and many volunteers, hiking guides and helpers, without whom the German Hiking Day in the region would not be possible. The SGV district representatives Andreas Freise and Dieter Schmidt are taking on the important task of coordinating the volunteers: "I am looking forward to working together with the many official and volunteer players and am confident that I can make the German Hiking Day 2019 a success and thus strengthen the hiking region in the long term", says the project manager about her new commitment.
