"The Big Catch" - The Family Holiday Program 2017

Fun and adventure for the whole family at more than 250 events

Schmallenberg/Eslohe. Once again, everything is represented that is great fun, offers variety and adventure and takes place away from smartphone, xbox and co. Whether night hikes, farm tours, bread baking, climbing courses, painting, handicraft and sculpting workshops and much more: More than 250 events for the holidays can be found on 68 completely redesigned pages. In addition, for the first time an overview of the most beautiful excursion destinations for families in our region. Anyone holding the family holiday programme of the Schmallenberger Sauerland and the Eslohe holiday region in their hands will forget to spell the word "boredom". The concentrated competence of the region with regard to families and children takes both local and guest children out into nature or to cultural places and invites them to experience them actively, adventurously and creatively. In order to structure the large selection clearly, all events have been arranged according to places and divided into months.

A comprehensive offer of the youth art school, which again offers extraordinary workshops, is represented as well as offers of the youth associations, some of which also invite to excursions outside the region. Various farms bring the topics of agriculture closer, rangers invite to excursions into the Sauerland forests or associations offer encounters with traditional Easter customs. It is a fascinating mixture which certainly has something to offer for all families.

Reading story "The big catch

In the holidays, in a tree house and in the middle of an exciting experience, this year's reading story leads to the children's holiday programme. Nils and Fine go on holiday. Where to? To Bödefeld, of course: They experience special days and make a "big" catch. The children of class 4a of the Bödefeld primary school came up with the story and completed it with the support of the children's author Kurt Wasserfall; they created the illustrations together with the graphic designer Anne Vollmert.

Hubertus Schmidt, head of tourism, thanks the numerous players, the tourist offices, hosts, museums, leisure destinations and the retail trade for making this impressive cooperation possible year after year: "Without this uncomplicated personal and financial support, we would not be able to offer such an attractive family holiday programme, from which guests and local families alike benefit

The first edition of the family holiday programme is now available from the Guest Information Office Schmallenberger Sauerland in the Wood and Tourism Centre and from all local tourist offices, the town of Schmallenberg and the municipality of Eslohe. A second, once again updated and supplemented edition will be published before the summer holidays begin. The flyer is also available for download at www.schmallenberger-sauerland.de.
