#sunny places

Every day, the sun rises in the morning and sets again in the evening. And yet we are always fascinated by something so commonplace. Not surprising really, because the colors, the mood and the light are somehow always different. And every season offers a new stage for the play of light. In everyday life, we sometimes don't have the time to stop and admire these fleeting moments of sunshine. But on vacation, you set your own pace.

We have selected the most beautiful places in the Schmallenberg Sauerland and the vacation region Eslohe where you have a fantastic view of the first and last rays of sunshine of the day. Take the time to simply sit and gaze in front of you - and you'll take home warm and cozy memories from the land of a thousand mountains.

Greet the day

The most beautiful sunrises

Every beginning has its own magic*, and so does every new morning. First it slowly becomes bright and colorful in the sky. Birds excitedly announce the imminent play of light. The mountains on the horizon take on an outline, standing dark and mighty against the shimmering sky. And then, all of a sudden, the first rays blink over the mountain tops, bathing everything in golden yellow light and heralding a new day; a new chapter, a new adventure...

*The line is from Hermann Hesse's poem "Steps". I wonder if he was describing the sunrise in Schmallenberg and Esloher Sauerland described?

Panoramic evening hours

The most beautiful sunsets

In the Schmallenberg and Esloher Sauerland you can hike as far as your feet will take you. You can look as far as the eye can see over the thousand mountains. And you can feast as often as you like in the cozy restaurants, huts and beer gardens. The hustle and bustle will be blown away by the wind and instead you will encounter local nature, hospitable people and yourself. And when the last rays disappear behind the green mountain peaks, it's not just the last waves of light that linger and bathe the meadows and forests in warm light. The experiences of the day also accompany you as you enjoy the peace, the view and the gentle warmth of the evening light.

The Schmallenberg Sauerland is particularly suitable for this, as there are several high mountains along the Rothaar ridge on its eastern side. Towards the west the mountains become flatter and flatter, giving you plenty of positions for a particularly beautiful sunset. This is also due to the landscape, the relief of the low mountain range and the authentically beautiful half-timbered villages.

51.233146542394685, 8.31015379336694
