Project #G.A.S.T. invites pupils to explore the occupational fields

The recruitment of young people is a central theme of our project. It is important now to win the next generation for tomorrow and to attract young people for a sound training in the hotel and catering industry. And so the project #G.A.S.T. together with the project partners DEHOGA Schmallenberg and Schmallenberg Unternehmen Zukunft (SUZ), as well as the Rotary Club offered for the first time a very practical exploration of occupational fields for pupils on 8 November 2018 in the Christine-Koch-Schule in Schmallenberg. In two school hours they had the opportunity to experience and try out very typical professional situations at three different "stations". This was made possible by the owners and trainers of the Familotel Ebbinghof, the Hotel Deimann and the Hotel Rimberg. During the pilot event, they were also available to answer questions and provide information about the training opportunities in their establishments. They also had the opportunity to directly discuss and agree on the possibilities of doing an internship. In the future, we hope to be able to organise further days of exploration through cooperation between companies and schools in the region. The planning for this is in progress. Pupils who would like to find out more about the training on offer or about internships in the hotel and catering industry are welcome to contact the project office.

Needs analysis/survey

A precise needs analysis should lay the foundation and determine the real wishes and expectations of employees and companies for the project. In cooperation with the FH Südwestfalen we developed a questionnaire for employers and employees in summer 2018, which was distributed to the companies.

Numerous questionnaires were returned to us by the beginning of September last year and were evaluated at the Fachhochschule Südwestfalen. The detailed report on the results has already been completed and distributed to all companies and employees. The contents and findings are an important prerequisite for us to be able to continue the project in a demand-oriented and targeted manner.

Cooperation with the career platform www.karriere-suedwestfalen.de

A framework agreement with our project #G.A.S.T. enables participating companies to use the career portal until the end of 2019 without their own cost sharing and without contractual obligation and to place job advertisements free of charge. Herewith we want to react to the current need of our companies to recruit suitable personnel.
The offer with corresponding information on the procedure was received by our companies at the end of last year. If you would like to take advantage of this offer or if you have any questions, please contact us!

Our project #G.A.S.T. was awarded the Sparkassen Tourismuspreis Westfalen-Lippe 2018. We are very happy about this and thank all partners and sponsors for the successful project so far.

Gastro-Card & gastronomic experiences

The project actively addresses the issue of "employee benefits" in the hotel and catering industry. At present, we are clarifying the tax law requirements as to which benefits employers and other partners can make available to employees. The aim is to provide employees with various benefits within the industry by issuing an "employee card". Discounts on accommodation and F&B services in partner companies in the region are being considered. In a second step, we would also like to supplement the card with services from leisure providers in the region.

Successful launch event for the #G.A.S.T. project on 12.07.2018

About 50 guests, hoteliers, restaurateurs and employees, accepted the invitation to the kick-off event of the project #G.A.S.T. in the Wood and Tourism Centre in Schmallenberg.
